'Luminous - Cattle egret'
Pastel - drawing on Supertooth paper
Size 37 x 27cm
I love Cattle egrets which provide a bright relief when foraging for insects disturbed among the legs of domestic cattle on green pastures. They are relatively recent immigrants to Australia having made the journey from Indonesia to the Northern Territory around the 1940's as a part of a world wide expansion of territory. They are now apparently found as far south as Tasmania in warmer months. I am always amazed at how immaculately white their plumage is no matter where I see them.
