Sealions in summer- Australian sealions
Pastel - drawing on Supertooth paper 58x42cm.
Maybe it's because summer is so hot this year...but whatever the reason my thoughts keep returning to the ocean off Kangaroo Island in South Australia.....and so does my artwork. These Australian sealions are unique to our continent and becoming more uncommon these days. Experts are unsure of the reasons when other seals on the Australian coast are actually becoming more common. They are an endlessly fascinating and intelligent creature...playful and interactive....even with humans who respect their sealion language and personal space. Sometimes I live on this wilderness beach for days at a time....just soaking up being another sea lion.
