Silvereyes at my fountain

One of my very favourite little birds is the silvereye. They have a characteristic peeping call which always reminds me of my childhood when I would lay beneath the grape vines in our backyard and watch the silvereyes feasting in the fruit (much to the annoyance of our cat). There are some who live permanently in the area but others are seasonally migratory and travel up from Tasmania… across the wild Bass Straight and through here on the Grampians National; Park of Victoria. I had been commissioned by some wonderful clients to paint silvereyes which are also their favourite birds. As it happens the annual migration came through our district a couple of weeks later and I was able to get some truly wonderful observation of them for this major artwork.
