Opportunity waits -female African cheetah
This gorgeous female African cheetah was in the Southern Kalahari when we travelled there recently. She had her eyes and all of her senses immovably fixed on a herd of springbok who were grazing only 150m away and they seemed oblivious to the motionless sphinx who was poised watching for an opportunity to take an incautious antelope with a surprise attack. Her half-grown cub sat nicely out of sight behind her and was more interested in observing the tourists (us) next door. They stayed without moving a muscle for a good 30 minutes and the stand-off was still in place when we moved on.
Cheetahs are one of my favourite creatures but they are extremely demanding to portray in pastel. I do hope you enjoy her as much as I did in seeing her and creating this artwork as a tribute to her magnificent presence. Pastel on
