Male lions often form coalitions and especially with sibling males. It is not uncommon to see up to 4 males who will work together to rule a pride and that pride’s home range. Yes the females usually do most of the hunting and providing but when push comes to shove it is the incredibly powerful males who do most of the fighting. These brothers will stay together for years and as long as they hold strong their territory is safe from outside marauding males.
