Just returned from a field trip to Kangaroo Island and as always, I was impressed by the wildlife. Whenever I observe seabirds the terns always seem to get my attention. They would have to be one of the most beautifully designed coastal birds and almost always seem to do everything with extreme poise and grace. Even if all they are doing is standing in the shallows having time out.... well... they even do that with poise and presence. This pastel painting of crested terns is my most recent artwork and I get happy just thinking about these terns.... standing.... doing nothing.... just being beautiful (which after all can be quite difficult.)
